Senior Boys Outdoor Activity Poses
Boy’s Outdoor Activity Poses
Girls activity poses are pretty much 100 percent in-studio images. Guys, on the other hand, are probably equally split – between in-studio activity and outdoor activity images.
Certainly, girls are also into cars and motorcycles and hunting and fishing but those images seem to be a rarity – other than their car – in a girl’s senior portrait session.
Interestingly though, when I look through the gallery below, I see four cars and two motorcycles. The balance of the images are sports or music related – all things we typically do in-studio for girls. Honestly, I don’t remember if the guys requested outdoor activity images or if we just did them on the spur of the moment.
Bottom line takeaway, don’t assume girls only want in-studio activity images. More variety equals happier clients. Happier clients equal larger portrait orders.
Funny Story Break
I have to tell you a funny story about a guy’s outdoor session.
We finish in-studio and head for the Plummer House; me in my car, Mom and senior boy in Dad’s Mercedes Benz. Senior wants a picture with the Mercedes.
We get to the Plummer House and park in the usual spot. As I recall he had a couple of outfits for general outdoor portraits, an outfit to go with the car and his team jersey to go with his golf clubs. He’d already pulled the clubs out of the trunk and had the bag over his shoulder.
“So what outfit is first?” I asked.
Mom says, “We want some in this shirt that he’s wearing.”
“Does that go with the golf clubs?” I asked.
“No, that’s with his jersey.”
“Okay, well since you have that shirt on why don’t we start with that. Let’s go over here by the back of the house.”
So senior sets the golf bag down on that little automatic pop-out stand thing and we head towards the back of the house. His next outfit is just a shirt change and Mom has that in her hand.
We do a couple of images out back and move around to the front of the house. There’s a large circular driveway there that always looks nice for car images – the big impressive Tudor mansion in the background.
Senior changes his shirt and I ask, “You want to do some images with the car here in front of the house?”
They both say yes and Mom heads back to the parking lot to get the Mercedes while senior and I do a few more images.
Mom is gone forever. The parking lot is maybe 50 yards away around the end of the house. We’ve pretty much exhausted images with the shirt he had on so we start walking towards the parking lot looking for Mom.
Mom’s standing by the car crying. Mom had gotten into the car, not noticing senior’s golf clubs, standing on that little pop-out stand, right behind the car. She backed – right over them. It was a Mercedes so as you might imagine they were country-club-quality golf clubs. She’s broken two – very expensive drivers – In. Half.
Apparently, Mom wasn’t a stellar driver on a good day and her and Dad had gone a few rounds on the matter. She pinky-swore the son to secrecy and they headed to the custom club shop right after the session.
I tried to joke about it when they came back for their ordering session – apparently, it was not a joking matter. 😉
Enjoy the gallery below and by all means, if you have questions let me know, that’s what I’m here for. You can shoot me an email RIGHT HERE.
